Lamar Davis is Franklin Clinton’s best friend, a Families gang member, and a central character in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Lamar Davis is Franklin Clinton’s best friend and one of the central supporting characters in Grand Theft Auto V. He is a member of the Families and often pulls Franklin into reckless criminal schemes. In Grand Theft Auto Online, Lamar becomes a recurring contact and later develops his own marijuana business, LD Organics.
Lamar grew up in Los Santos and attended Davis High School with Franklin Clinton. The two became involved in crime at a young age and later worked together as vehicle repossession agents for Simeon Yetarian at Premium Deluxe Motorsport. Lamar is associated with the Families and later forms the Forum Gangsters set with Franklin.
During Grand Theft Auto V, Lamar is involved in several of Franklin’s early missions, including repossession work, gang conflicts and failed criminal opportunities. His recklessness repeatedly puts himself and Franklin in danger, especially during the failed dealings with the Ballas and Stretch. Despite this, Franklin continues to help him and eventually rescues him during Lamar Down.
In Grand Theft Auto Online, Lamar introduces the Online Protagonist to Los Santos and becomes one of their first contacts. He later appears in Lowriders, The Contract and Short Trips. By 2021, Lamar owns LD Organics, a marijuana business, and works closely with Franklin, the GTA Online Protagonist and F. Clinton and Partner.
Lamar is loud, funny, reckless and extremely confident, often creating problems through poor judgment and unrealistic ambitions. He frequently accuses Franklin of abandoning his roots, but still remains loyal to him when it matters. His chaotic personality makes him one of the main sources of comic relief in GTA V and GTA Online.
Lamar is tall and usually wears streetwear associated with Los Santos gang culture. In GTA Online content such as The Contract and Short Trips, he retains his recognizable style while appearing as a more established, though still chaotic, entrepreneur.
Franklin Clinton is Lamar’s best friend. Their relationship is strained by Lamar’s recklessness and Franklin’s ambition, but they remain close allies across GTA V and GTA Online.
Trevor Philips joins Lamar and Franklin during Hood Safari and later respects Lamar’s chaotic attitude.
Michael De Santa helps Franklin rescue Lamar during Lamar Down and later fights alongside him in The Third Way.
Lamar is associated with several Emperor variants across GTA V and GTA Online.
